Who we are
BLACQ Space operates BLACQ.app and is the data controller for personal data processed through the service.

What data we collect
Account data: name, handle, email, phone, age, sex, nationality, country you live in, optional sexuality, optional disability information, and password (stored securely, never in plain text).
Creative Passport data: bio, avatar, cover photo, work, skills, links, communities, recommendations and other content you add.
Event and Spaces activity: events you host, attend, RSVP or check in to.
Messages: direct messages, community messages and reactions.
Posts and comments: anything you share in Discover, Communities, Spaces or your Passport wall.
Reports and moderation data: reports you make or that are made about you, and any moderation actions.
Payment data: if you buy tickets, memberships or paid features later, payment details are handled by our payment processor. We keep the transaction reference and the last four digits of the card only.
Device and usage data: IP address, device type, app version, crash logs and basic analytics.
Cookies and similar technologies (see Cookie Policy).
Location data: only used if you turn it on, and only to power features like nearby Spaces and events.
Why we use your data
To create and run your account and Creative Passport.
To power the core BLACQ.app features (Discover, Communities, Spaces, Messages).
To keep the community safe (moderation, fraud prevention, blocking, reporting).
To handle payments where you use paid features.
To improve the app, fix bugs and understand how features are used.
To send you service messages (for example, security alerts and important updates).
To send marketing only where you have opted in.
Our legal bases under UK GDPR
Contract — to provide the service you signed up for.
Legitimate interests — safety, fraud prevention, product improvement, and running a community platform.
Consent — for optional things like marketing, non-essential cookies and precise location. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Legal obligation — to comply with UK law, tax rules and lawful requests.
How we share your data
Service providers (hosting, email, analytics, payments, moderation tools) under written contracts.
Event hosts you buy tickets from receive your name and ticket reference.
Other users see the parts of your Creative Passport and activity you choose to make visible.
Law enforcement or regulators where we are legally required to share information.
We do not sell your personal data.
International transfers
Some of our providers are outside the UK. Where that happens we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the ICO's International Data Transfer Agreement to keep your data protected.
How long we keep your data
Active accounts: for as long as you use BLACQ.app.
Deleted accounts: your profile is anonymised within 30 days.
Limited records (financial, safety, fraud prevention, dispute handling) may be kept for up to 7 years where UK law requires it.
Account deletion
You can delete your account in the app or at /delete-account. See the Delete Account page for what happens next.
Your rights under UK GDPR
Right of access — ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Right to correction — ask us to correct data that is wrong or out of date.
Right to deletion — ask us to delete your data, subject to legal limits.
Right to restrict processing — ask us to pause using your data in certain ways.
Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests or direct marketing.
Right to data portability — ask for a copy of your data in a portable format.
Right to complain — you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at https://ico.org.uk if you're unhappy with how we've handled your data.

Children
BLACQ.app is an adults-only platform for people aged 18 and over. By creating an account you confirm you are at least 18 years old. If we believe someone under 18 is using the app we will suspend or delete their account. Some Spaces, events and venues promoted on BLACQ.app take place in licensed premises where attendees must be 18 or over and may be asked to show valid ID on entry.
